Day 32
A recap of January. Today we look into what we have learned in the first month of 2024.
TL;DR:
Day 32 of Be Quranic marks a recap of the month's journey through the Quran, particularly focusing on Surat Al-Fatiha and the first 20 ayat of Surat Al-Baqarah.
This session highlights the structured flow of the Quran, akin to a constellation of stars guiding us in the night.
The key themes covered include understanding Allah's attributes, our relationship with Him, and the clear distinction between the traits of the pious, the disbelievers, and the hypocrites.
The aim has been to reflect on ourselves, applying the Quran's teachings to our daily lives, ensuring we become more Quranic in our actions and thoughts.
Welcome to day 32 of Be Quranic, where we take short passages from the Quran daily, extract practical lessons from them, and apply them to our lives to be more Quranic.
Today is day 32, the first day of February 2024. Instead of exploring a new ayah, let's recap what we've done throughout January. One thing that has always fascinated me is the flow of ayat in the Quran. At first glance, it seems to jump from one topic to another, but deeper study reveals a beautiful structure.
In the Quran, Allah compares the ayat to stars, as mentioned in Surat Al-Waqi'a. While stars might appear as a jumbled mess, closer examination shows they guide us through the night. Similarly, the Quran, upon deep reflection, reveals a structured and meaningful message. It requires both tilawah (recitation) and tadabbur (deep reflection) to truly understand its messages.
Over the past month, we've covered from Surat Al-Fatiha to ayah 20 of Surat Al-Baqarah. We began with Al-Fatiha, which introduces us to Allah as Rahman and Rahim, evoking both love and fear, and outlines our relationship with Him – as His servants seeking His guidance. It categorises people into those who are favoured, those who have earned His anger, and those who have gone astray, each representing different attitudes towards knowledge and action.
Surat Al-Baqarah starts by affirming the Quran as a source of guidance for the pious. It describes the traits of the Muttaqeen (the pious), the disbelief of the Kafirun (disbelievers), and then delves into the characteristics of the Munafiqeen (hypocrites) – individuals who are inconsistent in their beliefs and actions. This section serves to caution us against hypocrisy and to introspectively ensure none of these traits are present within us.
This journey through the Quran is not about judging others but about reflecting on ourselves, ensuring we apply the Quran's lessons daily and become more Quranic in our approach to life. We have learned about our relationship with Allah, the path to guidance, and what actions to embrace or avoid. This understanding is encapsulated in the initial ayat of both Surat Al-Fatiha and the first 20 Ayat of Surat Al-Baqarah.
I hope you have found this journey useful. Tomorrow, inshaAllah, we will continue with Ayat 21.
